“We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to the man and woman who attended the accident. You were a great help to both of us in a very difficult time and place. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.”

“I'm pleased to say that Victim Services is an integral part of the way police service is delivered in Waterloo Region. I'm proud of the relationship we have and am committed to continue working towards our shared vision of the most effective community response.”

Chief Larry Gravill, Waterloo Regional Police Service

"Just wanted to thank you for all the work you did on your side. You were very instrumental in keeping our two witnesses informed and calm enough for them go get the job done. Tasks like this are hard enough when the witnesses are in the same city let alone in different provinces. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!"

Officer in Charge, Calgary Police Service, AB

"Thank you for your assistance in keeping our witnesses on board and focused while everyone waited for this process to end. We are grateful for your continued assistance and support."

Crown Attorney, Calgary, AB

“When victims are in trauma, it’s hard for them to grasp all that is going on around them. I have been on some very challenging calls and felt that my extensive training helped me effectively deal with the situation. There have been many thanks given as I left a tragic scene.”

Cristine, Volunteer Team Leader

“Since becoming a member of Victim Services my eyes have been opened wider as to the necessity for our service. I was startled to learn first hand just how little, victims in crisis knew where to turn for help! I am happy to be on board.”

Voluntarism and collegiality enhance the quality of life in Waterloo Region.

Victim Services is a case in point. As the guest speaker at their recent Annual Meeting, I was impressed with the ‘graduating class’ of volunteers from the extensive training program, the resource materials, supportive staff and Board, and the partnership with the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

As a representative of the local Hospitals, it has been a pleasure to work with VSWR staff and volunteers in the development of new resource materials, including a directory and database of local faith communities and their leaders. As Waterloo Region continues to grow and diversify, voluntary and collegial support for people in crisis will be hallmarks of a caring community.
