A case planning approach to addressing domestic violence and criminal harassment, DVERS began in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1991. A partnership between ADT Security Services Canada Inc., the Winnipeg Police, and EVOLVE (a local social agency), the program is now active in over 40 locations across Canada, and in 175 American communities under the acronym AWARES.
According to ADT, cooperation, coordination, and mutual respect are key ingredients for ensuring the ultimate on-going success of DVERS. This provides an important measure of safety, security, and peace of mind to victims.
